Welcome to Episode 12 of Let’s Talk Yoga!
Today’s guest is who I call the Queen of Restorative Yoga. Judith Hanson Lasater joins me today to talk about her latest book, Yoga Myths: What You Need to Learn and Unlearn for a Safe and Healthy Yoga Practice. Judith was one of the yoga teachers who I admire because of how she strikes a beautiful balance between Asana and the Yamas and Niyamas of yoga. I wonder if she has a secret in doing it. She also takes us on her journey as a restorative yoga teacher. Let’s all be inspired as Judith tells stories of her experiences that lead her to become such an admirable modern yoga teacher.
Judith Hanson Lasater has taught yoga since 1971. She was a founder of the San Francisco Iyengar Yoga Institute, as well as Yoga Journal, where she wrote the popular "Asana" column for 13 years. She authored 10 books including the latest, Yoga Myths: What You Need to Learn and Unlearn for a Safe and Healthy Yoga Practice. She holds a doctorate in East-West psychology and is a physical therapist. Judith is president of the California Yoga Teachers Association and serves on the advisory boards of Yoga Journal and the Yoga Research and Education Center.
Her yoga training includes study with B. K. S. Iyengar in India and the United States. She teaches ongoing yoga classes and trains yoga teachers in kinesiology, yoga therapeutics, and the Yoga Sutra in the San Francisco Bay Area. Judith also gives workshops throughout the United States and has taught in Canada, England, France, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Peru, and Russia.
