Vishoka Meditation – The Yogic Practice for Moving Beyond Sorrow with Ishan Tigunait

Meditation is one of those practices that many of us are curious about, but few of us truly understand beyond the techniques. In this conversation, I sit down with Ishan Tigunait, Executive Director of the Himalayan Institute, to explore Vishoka Meditation—a yogic practice designed to help us move beyond sorrow and reconnect with our deeper nature.

Together, we unpack the meaning of consciousness, the difference between technique and experience, and why meditation is ultimately a journey of self-discovery. Ishan shares insights from the Himalayan tradition, explains the role of breath, awareness, and the teacher-student relationship, and offers a practical perspective on making meditation both accessible and meaningful in modern life.

We also explore the power of group meditation, what it means to grow through practice, and how inner work can help us show up more fully in our communities. Whether you’re completely new to meditation or looking to deepen your understanding, this conversation offers a thoughtful introduction to the transformative potential of Vishoka Meditation.
