If you’re currently thinking of other ways to immerse yourself even more in the yoga practice, you should consider learning about the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. I know that there is this perception that philosophy and texts that are written in Sanskrit can be quite difficult to understand. That may be true. But there are many other ways that we can study the philosophy of the sutras. As a matter of fact, for our episode today, I’ve invited Anvita Dixit who can help seekers gain more wisdom in the philosophies of yoga, specifically the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
I connected with Anvita by stumbling upon her YouTube channel “Yogic Gurukul” where she has published substantial and meaningful content about the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. In this episode, she explains the history of Patanjali, the meaning of the word ‘sutra’, as well as abhyasa and vairagya.
She also gives advice to yoga practitioners on how to approach the study of the sutras. Her take on this philosophy can guide us, seekers, to genuine understanding and ultimately help us apply our learnings as we live our yoga off the mat. Sit back and relax as you listen to our episode today.
Having lived and grown-up at the Kaivalyadhama Yoga Centre, Anvita Dixit was trained in the classical form of Yoga from a very young age with a focus on Indian classical Asana, Pranayama, Meditation and Yoga Philosophy. She has been teaching Yoga for several years, in India and abroad – with vast experience teaching students, corporates, and brands – both in the online and in-person live audience format. She is now teaching Yoga through her platform, Yogic Gurukul – with an aim to teach Yoga in a modern, yet traditional way and has worked with several students, brands, and corporates from Tata Sky Fitness, Nykaa Wellness, to Atos Syntel, and Dr. Reddy’s amongst others.
