Packed with so much information and knowledge, today’s episode is one that you should not miss. My guest today, Savira Gupta, expertly shares her knowledge of the Puruṣārtha system or the four pillars of life. She discusses these, one by one, and how each of the pillars relates to yoga teachers. She has a deep understanding of the system which makes her a passionate yoga teacher. Don’t miss her helpful advice towards the end of the show.
Savira Gupta comes from a family of strong women rooted in the Arya Samaj tradition who wanted to revive the Vedic way of life and the need to create a just society for all despite color, caste, or creed. She is a dedicated Yin Yoga teacher and teacher trainer. Savira’s sessions are created from her own experiences and journey in life where she combines the key principles of compassion, non-judgment, self-reflection, and humor and with perspective. They are combined with stories of yoga mythology and scriptures from the Bhagavad Gita,
In Vedic texts and within the Ramayana and Mahabharata great epics, Purusharthas are Sanskrit words to “goals of human existence” or “the soul’s purpose.” These universal aims influence every thought and deed of our lives. They are artha, kama, dharma, and moksha. A more integrated vision of the four Purusharthas, and closer to their original intent, is that for such a complete spiritual ripening to occur, we need to integrate and balance all four, the foremost of which is dharma.
