In this episode, we explore the Bhagavad Gita. It’s very hard to squeeze the wisdom of the Gita in one podcast episode. I hope to keep unpacking this for you in the weeks & months ahead. My guest today, Luvena Rangel, a teacher and the founder of The Curvy Yogi. She’s been studying the Gita for years. I’ve known Luvena from the Yogawalla article, 20 Yoga Teachers of Color to Watch in 2020—a list we were on together. I invited her to the show to talk about what is Bhagavad Gita, how it transformed her life, and how it opens up doors to so many other shastras or dharmic wisdom.
Luvena mentioned that it is easy for anyone to misinterpret Bhagavad Gita, especially now that a lot of versions and translations are found everywhere on the Internet. Anyone who is keen to explore its teaching should know the proper approach to it, and should not do it alone. These texts are supposed to provide guidance to help us live a peaceful life. And the moment that the words are taken out of context, this very scripture can be used as a tool for destruction.
For yoga teachers looking into exploring Bhagavad Gita, this episode will provide valuable insight on how to study it. Not only did I enjoy chatting with Luvena, I also gained so much knowledge from it. I’m sure this episode will hook you up as well.
